It’s Valentine’s Day, which means many couples may be planning a romantic dinner or shopping for last-minute gifts. But, better than a bouquet could be a day spent together… looking at houses.

We’ve all seen homes that are intrinsically romantic, whether because of the architecture, the location, or the amenities they offer a potential home buyer: such as a hot tub.

None of these 5 houses are in the median price range, nor is it expected that everyone who goes in to check out a listed house will buy – but it’s lovely to have one day to talk about ‘what if’ and ‘here’s what I’d do’ with a significant other when you’re in the middle of house hunting; both of you knowing this is just a fun day out.

So after you take a look, you can enjoy that restaurant meal or get cozy by the fireplace to discuss just which estate you liked best;

If you want a storybook romance, this house is located in the bucolic Alexander Valley. It can’t get much more romantic than driving up a picturesque, secluded road.

The kitchen in this house is superb, but give me a walk-in closet with a box that contains fancy footwear and I’ll know I’m loved. Okay, that sounded bad, but seriously…who wouldn’t love this closet?

Of course this million+ house has a pool with a built-in spa. When the weather gets warm, this is the place you want to relax with your significant other.

This house is part of a gated community, so privacy is never an issue. The exterior reminds me very much of a spa getaway, so it can’t get more relaxing.

There was a recent ‘chick-flick’ movie that made reference to a ‘red room.’ I can’t say it has anything to do with this bathroom, but it’s following the Valentine’s Day idea…

While not high on the secluded scale, home does have an interior space of 2,412 square feet, vaulted ceilings, and a formal living room. This can set the stage for many cozy nights together.

All the rooms in this house are done in neutral, soothing tones. Just what you need to set the stage for a restful night’s sleep.

The architecture of this home isn’t romantic, but the location is.  Just the name – ‘The Sea Ranch’ – brings to mind a sandy beach getaway.

It’s been said that cooking a good meal is one way to express your love. I always enjoy looking at kitchens, and this is one I can get behind.

This house may not look like it’s the place where you expect to have a romantic getaway but being in Bodega Bay almost ensures privacy.

Here’s how close this house is to the beach.  If romantic strolls are what will make your Valentine’s Day special, this house has what you need.

It’s hard to imagine a whimsical day filled with love with this backyard set up when the spa looks so forlorn, but just wait until the bubbles start and the moon’s in the sky.
